What is royalty-free stock?
Basically, royalty-free stock is footage that's available for
unlimited end-use in commercial or non-commercial projects. Once
licensed, the clips may freely be used in most any project.
Actual terms-of-use may vary from clip to clip; details may be found at
these agency websites.
How much do clips cost?
Pricing varies, but generally, clips may be licensed as
low as a few dollars for web-sized clips. High-definition
clips (720p or 1080p) pricing is higher. Each agency has different pricing
structures in place. Please visit these agency links for complete details.
What resolutions are available?
Clips are available in various resolutions, from small web-intended sizes of 320x180, all
the way up to full 1920x1080 HD. Not every clip is available in every resolution, however.
Please visit these agency links to see what resolutions are offered.
Do I "own" the clips once purchased?
Technically, you do not "own" any purchased clips. What you do
own is a license to use the clips in a way as they were intended.
This is defined by the terms-of-use contract you agree to when you make
a purchase. For more information, please refer to the various agency terms-of-use details
at these agency links.
What formats are available?
All of these clips are in the Quicktime file format. They are compressed with either the PhotoJPEG or MotionJPEG codecs.
Both codecs are the industry-standard and widely compatible with all non-linear edit workstations.
What was used in creating these clips?
All of the video clips were shot in high-definition using professional high-quality cameras like a Canon EOS T2i and Nikon D90 DSLR, Panasonic HPX-170,
and a Canon XH-A1 HDV camera. The effects clips and motion backgrounds were created in HD resolution
in Adobe After Effects.

Pond5 stock footage agency.
Who are the people in these clips?
Mostly, the actors in the clips are people I know, but I'm always looking for new faces. Visit the model information page
for details if you're interested.
What's your experience in this field?
James Orlowski, the creator and owner of these clips, is an accomplished producer with
over 15 years of in-the-field production experience. He graduated from Penn State University in
1992 with a BA in Communications, and obtained a Master's Degree in Multimedia from Duquesne
University in Pittsburgh, PA in 2000.
Is producing stock footage your "job?"
No. I'm fortunate enough to actually have a job in the production field. I work at
a video production company that produces commercials for the cable industry, as well as local sports and news programming
for this market. Creating stock is just a hobby I do in my spare time. I enjoy thinking of new ideas for shots, backgrounds, or visual elements. It keeps
my skills sharpened during my down time.
