Pond5 Begins Subscription Program February 29, 2016
Customers of Pond5 may have noticed some changes that were launched on February 25, 2016. In addition to a complete re-branding of their website and image, Pond5 is now offering a subscription-based service for customers.
For as little as $49/month ($99/month once the introductory offer expires), subscription customers may download between 5 and 10 stock media assets per month from their hand-curated “Membership Content” library. In addition, subscription members enjoy 10% off all other purchases on the site.
At launch, of the 4 million files currently available on Pond5, 200,000 are included in the Membership Content subscription library, but this number is surely going to grow in time. The remaining files not in the Membership library are now referred to as being in the “Core” library.
OrlowskiDesigns is proud to be a part of this new launch, and as of this writing, has nearly 1,500 clips available in the Membership Content library.
The concept of subscriptions appears to be a new trend in the stock media world, and the Pond5 Membership service is surely a direct result of VideoBlocks launching their own subscription-based service called the Marketplace back in April of 2015. I suspect other stock agencies will soon begin offering similar services if they do not already.1
